
Gabrielle Kersaint, MSPH
Gabrielle Kersaint is a public health professional with over 40 years’ experience in non-profit management planning and directing multicultural public health programs in the areas of HIV/AIDS, Maternal and Child Health, Immigrant Health, and health workforce development for underserved and underrepresented youth.
Her past positions include leading two Brooklyn based non- profits. As the Executive Director of the Brooklyn – Queens - Long Island Area Health Education Center, (BQLI AHEC), Ms. Kersaint developed and implemented programs to increase the number of underserved and underrepresented students entering the health professions.
Prior to her tenure at BQLI AHEC, she was the Executive Director of the Haitian’s Women’s Program, a community based organization in Brooklyn that provided HIV/AIDS services to Haitian, Caribbean and African immigrants and refugees. She also worked at several other Brooklyn organization including Brookdale Hospital, Coney Island Hospital and the Brooklyn Perinatal Network.
Her municipal citywide experience include work with the NYC DOHMH Bureau of Maternity Services and Family Planning and the New York City Department for the Aging, DFTA. She has an interest in international health and has done volunteer work with several health delegations working on projects in the Caribbean and Africa.
Ms. Kersaint has a Master’s degree in Public Health Policy, Planning and Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, a Certificate in Non-Profit Management from Columbia University’s Business School and a BA in Psychology and Community Health from the State University of New York at Binghamton.
She is a long time resident of Brooklyn and resides in Bedford Stuyvesant.
